Stop marking

Before the transverse stop marking that accompanies the “Stop” sign, the inscription “STOP” may be applied on the carriageway. Therefore, this marking reinforces the meaning of the “Stop” sign by drawing attention to the obligation to stop.

The driver of the vehicle is obliged to stop, regardless of whether other vehicles are moving on the priority road or not. He may pass the sign in order to reach the place with maximum visibility, but without entering the intersection.

After the complete stopping of the vehicle, if no other vehicles are moving to whom he must give priority, he may continue driving. If other vehicles are moving to whom he must give priority, he gives them priority, after which he may continue driving.
