“Overtaking motor vehicles, except for motorcycles without sidecar, prohibited”
Road signs on yellow background have a temporary character and are encountered on road sections where works are carried out on the carriageway.
This sign prohibits the drivers of motor vehicles from performing the maneuver of overtaking motor vehicles, with the exception of motorcycles without sidecar and mopeds, which may be overtaken. Considering that it prohibits performing the overtaking maneuver of motor vehicles, the overtaking of simple vehicles is not prohibited; therefore, the overtaking of bicycles, electric scooters, animal‑drawn vehicles and vehicles pulled or pushed by hand is permitted.
On the public road sections where works are carried out, where the overtaking of any motor vehicle by motor vehicles is prohibited, except for motorcycles without sidecar and mopeds. The end of the sector with overtaking prohibited is signalled by the sign “End of overtaking prohibition”, on yellow background.
If there are also other restrictions imposed by signs on the road section, the end of the sector with overtaking prohibited may also be signalled with the sign “End of all restrictions”, on yellow background.
If none of the signs “End of overtaking prohibition” and “End of all restrictions” are installed, the road section with overtaking prohibited ends at the first intersection.
Regulation** - Article 66
[...]
(6) The meaning of the regulatory priority signs or restriction signs begins at their location. In the absence of signalling indicating the length of the sector to which the regulation applies or of signs announcing the end of the prohibition or restriction, the meaning of these signs ceases at the nearest intersection. When regulatory priority signs or restriction signs are installed together with the sign announcing entry into a locality, their meaning is valid on the respective road until encountering the “Exit from locality” sign, except for places where other signs provide otherwise.
Regulation** - Article 67
Temporary road signs corresponding to warning signs, restriction or prohibition signs, or orientation signs have the same characteristics as the permanent ones, with the difference that the white background is replaced with a yellow background.
On the road section where the overtaking maneuver is prohibited, the maneuvers of stopping, waiting, U-turn and moving in reverse are also prohibited.
