“Falling rocks”
It is usually found installed in mountain areas and warns you that you are approaching a road section on which falling rocks or boulders from the slopes are possible. If the length of the dangerous section exceeds 500 meters, under the sign there is installed the additional panel “The length of the dangerous sector to which the sign refers” to specify the length of that dangerous road section.
When approaching a road section on which falling rocks or boulders from the slopes are possible. The symbol indicates the side from which rocks or boulders may fall. If the length of the dangerous section exceeds 0.5 km, under the sign an additional panel “The length of the dangerous sector to which the sign refers” is installed and, as appropriate, it is repeated every 0.5 km, on the additional panel being inscribed the remaining distance to the end of the dangerous section.
The driver of the vehicle is NOT obliged to reduce the speed when encountering the sign “Falling rocks” but is recommended to drive with increased attention and to leave the dangerous area as quickly as possible. On the dangerous road section signalled with the sign “Falling rocks” performing maneuvers is NOT prohibited, but from a preventive point of view and considering that you are in a dangerous area which is recommended to leave as quickly as possible, maneuvers of stopping, waiting, moving in reverse and U-turning are not recommended, and the overtaking maneuver is not recommended because you cannot properly make sure that rocks or boulders already fallen are not found on the carriageway.
