The obligation of the driver of the vehicle to stop at the signals of the border police officers is also valid outside the border area.

(1) Stopping the participants in traffic is mandatory also at the signals given by:
a) the border police officers;

(2) The persons provided in paragraph (1) letters a)-d) can also perform the following signals:
a) the swinging of the arm in a vertical plane, with the palm of the hand oriented towards the ground or with a means of signalling, which signifies the reduction of the speed;
b) the brisk rotation of the arm, which signifies the increase of the travel speed of the vehicles, including the hastening of the crossing of the road by pedestrians.

a) the area of competence:
1. the surface of the national territory constituted from the border area, the surface and the buildings of the airports and ports located inside the country, opened to international traffic, the inner Danube, the Măcin branch, the maritime Danube, the Danube - Black Sea Canal, the Sulina Canal located outside the border area, the inner maritime waters and the territorial sea, as well as the contiguous zone and the exclusive economic zone of Romania, in which the Romanian Border Police fulfills its duties provided by law;
2. the entire surface of the national territory, only for fulfilling the duties regarding the prevention and combating of illegal migration;
