Explanation

The phenomenon is called oversteer. In the case of oversteer the tyres of the rear axle lose adhesion and the motor vehicle begins to rotate around the vertical axis. The occurrence of oversteer appears most often when the driver brakes hard during the curve. By braking, the center of gravity of the motor vehicle shifts toward the front axle, the rear axle unloads, and the rear wheels lose adhesion and skid. To avoid the occurrence of oversteer, the travelling speed during a curve must be as low as possible and sudden and intense braking must be avoided.

A corrective measure of oversteer can be applied, called counter-steering. This is performed by steering to the right the steering wheels. In this way the rotation of the motor vehicle around the vertical axis is stopped, the skid of the rear axle being controlled. Therefore, in the situation in which the vehicle skids with the rear toward the right, it is recommended the releasing of the accelerator pedal (accelerating worsens the skidding situation) and the slight rotation of the steering wheel to the right.

The correct answer is: C
