Question 864 of 1208

How is it advisable to proceed when, while driving behind a cyclist, you notice that he wants to change the direction of travel?

A you signal audibly the intention to overtake him;
B you ensure him conditions for performing the maneuver;
C you have no obligation, since he is a very slow vehicle.

Explanation

For answer  A

The question specifies the change of direction of travel of the cyclist, which can also be an overtaking of an obstacle on the edge of the road, in which case performing overtaking of the cyclist while he performs the change of direction of travel is not permitted to you. And regarding the audible warning of him, it must be known that the audible warning is not permitted to you from a distance less than 25 meters from him, except when the warning is used for avoiding an immediate danger.

For answer  B

When you drive behind a cyclist and notice that he intends to change the direction of travel, you must ensure him conditions for completing the maneuver. And after he has completed the maneuver, you may begin overtaking only if there are optimal conditions for performing the maneuver in safety conditions.

For answer  C

The road legislation imposes rules of driving for all the drivers of vehicles, including for cyclists, and the obligations and prohibitions that you have regarding the safety of road traffic must be applied regardless of the type or speed of the vehicle that drives in front of you.

The correct answer is: B
