Overtaking is the maneuver by which a vehicle passes in front of another vehicle or past an obstacle, located on the same direction of traffic, by changing the direction of travel and leaving the traffic lane or the line of vehicles in which it was initially. [OUG* Art. 45 paragraph (1)]

TO REMEMBER:

1. Whether we want to pass in front of another vehicle located on the same direction, or we want to bypass an obstacle on the carriageway located on the same direction, it is still called overtaking;
2. Whether we cross over the marking that separates the directions of traffic and enter the opposite direction, or we do not cross over the marking that separates the directions of traffic and remain on the same direction, it is still called overtaking.
