(6) The drivers of motor vehicles and agricultural or forestry tractors with a maximum authorized mass greater than 3.5 tons are obliged to wear fluorescent-reflective protective-warning equipment when performing interventions on the vehicle that is located on the carriageway of the public road.
(1) In the event of the breakdown of a motor vehicle, agricultural or forestry tractor or its trailer, the driver of the combination is obliged to move it immediately outside the carriageway or, if this is not possible, to move it next to the curb or shoulder, placing it parallel to the axis of the road and taking measures to remedy the deficiencies or, as the case may be, for towing. (2) During the night or in conditions of reduced visibility, the motor vehicle, agricultural or forestry tractor or its trailer which has deficiencies in the lighting or light signalling system cannot be towed on public roads without having in operation, on the left side, at the front, a dipped beam and at the rear, a position light. (1) If a motor vehicle, agricultural or forestry tractor or a trailer has broken down on the carriageway of the road and cannot be moved outside it, the driver of the motor vehicle, agricultural or forestry tractor is obliged to activate the hazard warning lights and to install the reflective triangles. (Paragraph (1) was amended and updated on www.scoalarutiera.ro on 06-10-2021)
(2) The reflective triangles are installed in front of and behind the vehicle, on the same traffic lane, at a distance of at least 30 m from it, so that they can be observed in time by traffic participants who are approaching. In urban areas, when traffic is heavy, the reflective triangles may be placed at a shorter distance or even on the vehicle, so that they can be observed in time by the other drivers of vehicles.
(3) If the vehicle is not equipped with hazard warning lights or these are defective, the driver may use, during the night or in conditions of reduced visibility, a portable lamp with intermittent yellow light, which is installed at the rear part of the vehicle.
(4) Is prohibited the use of the reflective triangles or of the hazard warning lights without justification or to simulate a breakdown in places where stopping or waiting is prohibited.
(5) In the event of the load or a part of it falling from vehicles onto the carriageway, which constitutes an obstacle that cannot be removed immediately, the driver is obliged to signal it with one of the means provided in paragraphs (1)-(3).
