The sign you have encountered is called “Level crossing with a single railway, without barriers”. When encountering this sign you have the obligation to stop in the place with maximum visibility, but without passing the sign, and if no railway vehicle is approaching you may continue your movement. Attention! Stopping is mandatory, regardless of whether at that moment any railway vehicle is circulating or not.
The sign in the image may mislead you because it is usually used together with the automatic light signalling system, but it can also be used without that automatic light signalling system, depending on the case. Therefore, if it is installed alone, as it is in the image, or if its signalling system does not work, you have the obligation to stop.
