Question 798 of 802

The nosebleed can stop if the injured person:

A lies down with the head tilted back;
B stands and presses both nostrils for approximately 5-10 minutes;
C raises the right hand.

Explanation

The nosebleed can be stopped if the victim stands or sits, as calmly as possible, with the head bent down and with digital compression of the soft parts of the nose (press both nostrils) between the thumb and index finger for approximately 5-10 minutes, thus avoiding the blood flowing into the pharynx.

Attention!

It is totally wrong, ineffective and lacking scientific arguments the position adopted by most victims, meaning lying on the back, face up and, possibly, with the left hand raised. If the victim’s condition is severely affected or a fainting sensation appears, they may lie down, but face down and maintaining the digital compression at the nose level. Also, if the injured person has a bit of cotton at hand, they can make a small pad, which they insert into the nose before performing the digital compression.

The correct answer is: B
