The drivers of motor vehicles, agricultural or forestry tractors and trams are obliged to use the meeting lights (low beam) when it rains heavily, snows abundantly or in other conditions that reduce visibility on the road, whether driving during the day or at night.
And if visibility is reduced because of dense fog, the front fog lights (if it is equipped with such fog lights, also called front fog lights), as well as the rear fog lights with red light, will be used in addition to the meeting lights.
Although the road legislation has been updated and at this moment it is mandatory that when driving during the day on all categories of public roads, driving must be done with the meeting lights (low beam) or daytime running lights (DRL) on, the answer to this question remains still correct and in accordance with the legislation.
To better understand this rule we give the following example: A motor vehicle driver drives during the day in optimal visibility conditions, in which case he is obliged to turn on either the meeting lights (that is, low beam), or the daytime running lights (DRL), as he considers, or he may even use both at the same time. However, if he drives in reduced visibility conditions on the road, the option to choose to turn on the daytime running lights (DRL) instead of the meeting lights (low beam) is NOT valid anymore because the road legislation provides that in this case it is mandatory to use the meeting lights (low beam), without leaving the option to use the daytime running lights (DRL) instead of the meeting lights.
You can find more information about the obligation to drive also during the day with the meeting lights or with the daytime running lights on here - The obligation to use the meeting lights (low beam) or DRL lights during the day.
