Until the victim is transported to the hospital, the waiting position must be a position that allows good breathing.

Depending on the injuries and/or the condition presented by the victim, the positioning will be:

• in the case of dislocations, sprains or fractures the correct position will be that of rest (inactivity);
• in the case of major hemorrhages, the victim will be positioned on the back with the lower limbs raised at 30–40 degrees compared to the position of the torso;
• in the case of a cardio-respiratory arrest the victim's position will be on the back;
• in the case of forearm, jaw or mandibular fractures, the victim's position will be sitting;
• in the case of a rib fracture and the victim is conscious, they will be positioned semi-sitting with the back supported, and if they are unconscious they will be positioned on the side on the affected side;
• in the case of a cranial fracture, the victim will be positioned horizontal, on one side;
• in the case of a vertebral column fracture, if the victim is conscious they will be positioned on the back and if the victim is unconscious they will be positioned on the back with the body sideways.
