Question 49 of 554

You are obliged to stop the motor vehicle immediately at the signals addressed by:

A the officers or non-commissioned officers of the Romanian Gendarmerie;
B the community police officers;
C the railway agents, at level crossings.

Explanation

For answer  A

The road legislation does not provide that the officers or non-commissioned officers of the Romanian Gendarmerie can address stop signals. Therefore, these cannot address stop signals to the drivers of vehicles.

For answer  B

The road legislation does not provide the obligation to stop at the signals addressed by the community police officers. Since 2010 the term “community police” no longer exists in the normative acts in force. At this moment the term found in the normative acts in force is “local police”.

For answer  C

In addition to the obligation to stop at the signals of the traffic police officer, the participants in traffic are obliged to stop immediately also at the signals addressed in this sense by the railway agents, at level crossings. The latter can perform, in addition to the stop signals, also the following signals: the swinging of the arm in the vertical plane, with the palm of the hand oriented towards the ground or with a means of signalling, which signifies the reduction of speed, as well as the brisk rotation of the arm, which signifies the increase of the speed of movement of the vehicles, including the speeding up of the crossing of the road by pedestrians. The non-observance of these signals is sanctioned with a fine provided in the second class of sanctions.

The correct answer is: C
