It must be known that the maximum speed limit on motorways is different depending on the category of the motor vehicle driven. For motor vehicles in categories A and B the maximum speed limit on motorways is 130 km/h. For the maximum speed limits for the other categories of motor vehicles consult Article 50 of OUG 195/2002, published below.

(1) The maximum speed limit in the urban area is 50 km/h.

(4) The maximum speed limits outside the urban area are:
a) on motorways - 130 km/h;
b) on express roads - 120 km/h;
c) on European national roads (E) - 100 km/h;
d) on the other categories of roads - 90 km/h.

OUG - Article 50

(1) The maximum speeds allowed outside the urban area for the categories of motor vehicles provided in Annex no. 1 are the following:
a) 130 km/h on motorways, 120 km/h on express roads, 100 km/h on European national roads (E) and 90 km/h on the other categories of roads, for motor vehicles in categories A and B;
b) 110 km/h on motorways, 100 km/h on express roads, 90 km/h on European national roads (E) and 80 km/h on the other categories of roads, for motor vehicles in categories C, D and category D1;
c) 90 km/h on motorways, 85 km/h on express roads, 80 km/h on European national roads (E) and 70 km/h for the other categories of roads, for motor vehicles in categories A1, B1 and C1;
d) 45 km/h, for agricultural or forestry tractors and mopeds.
