Before engaging in an overtaking, at first, you MUST NOT move as close as possible to the one you intend to overtake, because first you must make sure that the vehicle in front and the one behind have not signalled the beginning of a similar manoeuvre. In addition, you must always keep an appropriate safety distance from the vehicle you intend to overtake, even before starting such a manoeuvre.
Before engaging in an overtaking you MUST NOT warn by sound or light signals the driver of the vehicle that is going to be overtaken.

(1) The driver of the vehicle who performs the overtaking is obliged:
a) to make sure that the one who follows or precedes him has not signalled the intention to begin a similar manoeuvre and that he can overtake without endangering or hindering the traffic from the opposite direction;

c) to keep during the overtaking a sufficient lateral distance from the overtaken vehicle;
d) to return to the lane or the initial line of traffic after he has signalled and made sure that he can perform this manoeuvre in safe conditions for the overtaken vehicle and for the other road users.
