You do not have the obligation to drive as close as possible to the right edge of the road when encountering a vehicle that is driving at night, from the opposite direction, whether the road is illuminated or not. You may confuse this situation with the situation in which you are overtaken by another vehicle, in which case you have the obligation to drive as close as possible to the right edge of the carriageway or of the lane on which you are moving and not to increase the speed of travel. Pay attention to these two situations so as not to confuse them!
When you are driving at night, whether the road is illuminated or not, when approaching another vehicle that is driving from the opposite direction (coming from the opposite direction toward the vehicle you are driving), you are obliged that from the distance of at least 200 meters you use the low-beam headlights, simultaneously with reducing the speed.
If at that moment you are driving with the high-beam headlights on, you must switch them to the low-beam headlights, so as not to disturb those in front, simultaneously with reducing the travel speed.
If at that moment you are driving having in operation, instead of the low-beam headlights, the daytime running lights (DRL), you must turn on the low-beam headlights, simultaneously with reducing the travel speed.
We must make the difference between the following two situations that we encounter in the test questions but also in everyday traffic:
The road legislation does not provide the obligation to use the audible warning device in this situation.
