Explanation

Explanation text category C / driving quizzes drpciv:
Buses and heavy trucks have, apart from the wheel brake, other retardation devices. The exhaust brake (the engine brake) is a retarder that interrupts the diesel supply and blocks the exhaust gases. The electromagnetic brake is a retarder that brakes the cardan shaft (the transmission), with the help of an electromagnet.
Therefore the electromagnetic retarder generates, during its use, an electromagnetic field that brakes the drive shaft (cardan).
Correct answer: C
