The nasal bleeding can be stopped if the victim stands or sits, as calmly as possible, with the head bent down and with digital compression of the soft parts of the nose (press both nostrils) between the thumb and index finger for about 5-10 minutes, thus avoiding the blood flowing into the pharynx.
The position adopted by most victims is totally wrong, ineffective and lacking scientific arguments, namely lying on the back, face up and, possibly, with the left hand raised. If the condition of the victim is severely affected or the feeling of fainting appears, they can lie down, but face down and maintaining the digital compression at the level of the nose. Also, if the injured person has a little cotton wool at hand, they can make a small pad, which they insert into the nose before performing the digital compression.
