Art. 172.
(1) In traffic on public roads, the motor vehicle or the combination of vehicles which, with or without load, has a width between 3.2 m and 4.5 m inclusive or a length greater than 25 m must be preceded by an escort motor vehicle, and the one with a width greater than 4.5 m or a length greater than 30 m must be accompanied by two motor vehicles which must travel one in front and the other behind.
(2) On highways the motor vehicle which, with or without load, exceeds the width of 3.2 m must be followed by an escort motor vehicle.
(3) The escort motor vehicle must be equipped with a special warning device with yellow light and must have mounted, depending on the place occupied in the escort, on the left side at the front or at the rear, the reflective identification plate, having white background and red border.
(4) The driver of the motor vehicle with exceeded mass and/or dimensional limits, as well as the drivers of the escort motor vehicles are obliged to activate and maintain in operation the special yellow warning signals provided in art. 32 paragraph (1) letter c) of the Government Emergency Ordinance no.195/2002, republished, for the entire period of movement on the public road.
