Question 594 of 1208

What is understood by the distance of at least 50 m from which the driver of the motor vehicle is obliged to signal the intention to overtake in the urban area?

A the distance between the motor vehicle that is overtaking and the one that is to be overtaken;
B the distance between the place where the intention to overtake was signalled and the place where the driving position of the motor vehicles is changed for starting overtaking;
C the distance between the motor vehicle engaged in overtaking and the place where it performs the overtaking.

Explanation

The intention of the drivers of motor vehicles to perform the overtaking maneuver is signalled by activating the direction indicators at least 50 meters in the urban areas and 100 meters outside built-up areas, before starting the performance of the maneuver.

The distance of at least 50 meters in the urban areas signifies the distance between the place where we signal the intention to perform the maneuver and the place where the maneuver begins, that is, the distance travelled with the indicator operating until you start performing the maneuver.
