The maximum speed limit on roads outside the urban area is 130 km/h on motorways, 120 km/h on expressways, 100 km/h on the European national roads (E) and 90 km/h on the other categories of roads. These maximum speed limits are the maximum limits that can be established on public roads in Romania.
It must be known that, depending on the category of the road on which one is driving and on the category of the driven motor vehicle, the maximum speed limits are different. The maximum speed limits for motor vehicles from categories A and B on roads outside the urban area coincide with the maximum limits that can be established on public roads in Romania: 130 km/h on motorways, 120 km/h on expressways, 100 km/h on the European national roads (E) and 90 km/h on the other categories of roads.

c) 90 km/h on motorways, 85 km/h on expressways, 80 km/h on the European national roads (E) and 70 km/h for the other categories of roads, for motor vehicles from categories A1, B1 and C1;
d) 45 km/h, for agricultural or forestry tractors and mopeds.
