Explanation

In order to be kept in circulation, the registered or recorded vehicles, except for self-propelled machines with a maximum design speed that does not exceed 25 km/h, tracked motor vehicles, trams and animal-drawn vehicles, undergo the periodic technical inspection, according to the legislation in force.

The periodic technical inspection (ITP) is carried out in authorized stations, according to the legislation in force. For motor vehicles, the periodic technical inspection is carried out at different time intervals depending on the type of motor vehicle, for example for new cars, the first periodic technical inspection is done at three years, for cars up to 12 years old it is carried out at an interval of two years, and for cars older than 12 years it is carried out at 12 months (one year).

The validity term of the periodic technical inspection is found in the annex of the registration or recording certificate.

For more information regarding the deadlines for carrying out the ITP, depending on the type of motor vehicle, we recommend you consult the updated reference articles on this page.
