Question 907 of 1208

Which of the vehicles may continue their movement in the intersection?

A the trams, because they have priority;
B the blue car;
C the blue car and the yellow car.

Explanation

The intersection in the image is controlled by signals of the electric traffic lights which are accompanied, in the lower part, by an additional panel which has the role of specifying for which of the directions of movement the meanings of the signals of the traffic lights are valid.

In this situation, the only traffic light that has the green light functioning is the one under which the additional panel on which an arrow with the tip to the left is displayed is installed, this being the special traffic light for the left turn. Therefore, among all the vehicles in this intersection the only one that may continue its movement in the desired direction is the blue car, because it turns to the left and must respect the meaning of the signal of this special traffic light for the left turn, this having the green light functioning. The other vehicles, because they wish to travel straight ahead, must respect the signals of the traffic lights for the straight-ahead direction, these having the red light functioning, which prohibits them the passing.

The correct answer is: B

On the red or green lamps of the traffic lights black arrows which indicate the directions of movement corresponding to them may be applied. In this case the prohibition or permission of passing imposed by the light signal is limited to the direction or the directions indicated by these arrowsThe same meaning is also held by the arrows applied on the additional panels which accompany, in the lower part, the traffic lights. The arrow for straight ahead has the tip upwards.
