Question 721 of 1208

What must you do immediately after an accident with a wild animal?

A stop, turn on the hazard warning lights and secure the accident site;
B inform the animal protection organizations;
C take the game home and report to the insurance company the damages suffered by the car.

Explanation

If you have been involved in a traffic accident with a wild animal you must stop, turn on the hazard warning lights and secure the accident site (which involves, among other things, installing the reflective triangles), in order not to endanger the safety of the other participants in traffic. If the motor vehicle cannot be moved outside the carriageway, you have the obligation to install the reflective triangles in front of and behind the motor vehicle, at at least 30 meters, so that the other participants in traffic can notice you in time.

Even if your vehicle can be put back into circulation, this does not mean that you can simply leave the scene. Leaving the animal on the carriageway can endanger the safety of other participants in traffic. In such situations, you must call 112 immediately and report the accident. The authorities will be able to send authorized personnel, either to provide help to the animal or to clear the carriageway safely.

Considering that you have been involved in a traffic accident, you are obliged to present yourself at the police unit in whose area the accident occurred within no more than 24 hours, for the preparation of the finding documents. In this case the repair of the damaged motor vehicle will be done on the basis of the authorization issued by the traffic police.
