When you drive a car with traction on the rear and you accelerate too strongly in a curve, the motor vehicle has the tendency to skid toward the outside of the curve, this phenomenon is called oversteer. Therefore, in curves the speed of movement must be reduced preventively and the acceleration will be done progressively, after exiting the curve.

Understeer - is a phenomenon that appears most frequently in the case of motor vehicles with the engine and the drive axle in front. Due to the fact that the wheels of the front axle are both steering and driving, an overloading of these occurs during the time when the motor vehicle turns. This phenomenon intensifies as the traction force (or, as the case may be, the braking force) increases excessively during the turn. In other words, a strong acceleration or a sudden braking performed during the turn will cause the understeer of the motor vehicle. The consequence of this is the loss of adhesion between the tyres and the rolling surface, respectively the entering of the motor vehicle on an uncontrolled trajectory (its skidding).
Oversteer - is another phenomenon likely to lead to the loss of control of the motor vehicle in a turn and consists of a rotation of the motor vehicle around its axis. This is a characteristic specific to motor vehicles with the driving wheels on the rear axle and appears whenever the tyres lose adhesion. As in the case of understeer, the phenomenon takes place when the driver brakes strongly during the turn and is strongly accentuated by an excessive wear of the tyres or by a slippery carriageway. To understand the phenomenon of oversteer, imagine a transfer of the centre of gravity toward the front part of the motor vehicle, simultaneously with the loss of adhesion of the tyres of the rear axle.
