You do not have the obligation to drive as close as possible to the right edge of the road when encountering a vehicle that travels at night, from the opposite direction, whether the road is illuminated or not. You may confuse this situation with the situation in which you are overtaken by another vehicle, in which case you have the obligation to drive as close as possible to the right edge of the carriageway or of the lane on which you move and to not increase the travelling speed. Pay attention to these two situations so as not to confuse them!
When you travel at night, whether the road is illuminated or not, when approaching another vehicle that travels from the opposite direction (comes from the opposite direction toward the vehicle you are driving), you are obliged that from the distance of at least 200 meters to use the dipped-beam headlights, simultaneously with the reduction of the speed.
If at that moment you travel with the main-beam headlights (high beam) in operation, you must change them to the dipped-beam headlights (low beam), so as not to disturb those in front, simultaneously with the reduction of the travelling speed.
If at that moment you travel having in operation, instead of the dipped-beam headlights, the daytime running lights (DRL), you must switch on the dipped-beam headlights (low beam), simultaneously with the reduction of the travelling speed.
