GENERAL Learning Environment Category B (B, B1)
Question 989 of 1208

What obligations do the drivers of vehicles have when passing motor vehicles with a priority traffic regime, which have in operation the special red light warning devices and the sound warning devices:

A to stop immediately on the shoulder or, in its absence, as close as possible to the edge of the road or to the curb of the sidewalk, in the direction of travel;
B to reduce speed and to drive as close as possible to the edge of the road in the direction of travel;
C to take the vehicle off the road, regardless of the means used.

Explanation

When you encounter motor vehicles with a priority traffic regime that have in operation the special red light warning devices and the sound ones, you have the obligation to stop immediately the motor vehicle on the shoulder or, in its absence, as close as possible to the edge of the road or the curb of the sidewalk, in the direction of travel. After they pass, you may continue your travel.

We must know that these motor vehicles with a priority traffic regime are allowed to use the light signals without being accompanied by the sound ones, depending on the nature of the mission or the traffic conditions, a situation in which the respective motor vehicle does not have a priority traffic regime. But the reverse situation, to use only the sound signals without being accompanied by the light ones, is not allowed.

We recommend that you also consult the articles from the updated road legislation that are found a little below.
