Explanation

In the case of an accident in which the victim has lost consciousness, the first measure will be to make sure that the victim is alive, checking breathing and heartbeat. This maneuver is performed by searching for the pulse in the carotid artery. The carotid artery can be felt on the side of the neck at a distance of two-three centimeters from the thyroid cartilage (Adam’s apple). Search for the pulse at the carotid artery both on the right side and on the left side of the neck.
