Question 1030 of 1208

How is the intention to overtake another vehicle signalled at night, in the urban area, on an unlit road?

A with the main beam of the headlights;
B with the direction indicator lights;
C by the combined use of the dipped beam and the audible warning.

Explanation

For the answers  A  and  C

To signal the intention to perform the overtaking maneuver it is not allowed to use the horn or the lights of the headlights, whether it is the main beam (long beam) or the dipped beam (short beam), and regardless of whether these are used separately or combined. See the explanation of answer B.

For the answer  B

The intention to perform the overtaking maneuver, whether you perform the maneuver by day or by night, will be signalled only with the direction indicator lights. The main beam of the headlights, the combination of the dipped beam and the audible warning or other types of signalling will not be used to signal your intention to perform the overtaking maneuver.
