Question 490 of 1208

How can the brightness of the headlights be maintained in unfavorable weather conditions?

A by periodically adjusting the light beam;
B by keeping the headlights permanently clean;
C by using only high beam.

Explanation

For answer  A

The periodic adjustment of the light beam can be done automatically or manually from the motor vehicle, depending on the load of the car at that moment, being important in order not to disturb the other traffic participants. Through this adjustment the problem of headlight brightness in unfavorable weather conditions is not solved.

For answer  B

In unfavorable weather conditions the brightness of the headlights can be maintained by keeping the headlights permanently clean. Checking the lighting and signalling devices is recommended, cleaning them from dust and dirt and ensuring a set of spare bulbs, a flashlight to help you replace them, warning triangles, etc.

For answer  C

Using high beam continuously, meaning high beam, will not solve the problem of headlight brightness in unfavorable weather conditions, as long as the headlights are dirty and the light cannot pass through them, in which case you will still arrive at keeping them clean. Moreover, the road regulation will prohibit you from using high beam if a vehicle approaches from the opposite direction at a distance of less than 200 meters or if another vehicle is traveling ahead in the same direction at less than 100 meters.

The correct answer is: B
