Question 415 of 1208

In which of the situations is overtaking prohibited?

A in the intersections with unregulated traffic and at the pedestrian crossings signalled;
B in intersections and at a distance of 50 m from them;
C in the action area of the sign “Speed limit“.

Explanation

For answer  A

The road traffic regulation prohibits the overtaking of vehicles in certain places and situations, among which are the following:

  • in the intersections with unregulated traffic;
  • on pedestrian crossings signalled through signs and markings.

For answer  B

At a distance of 50 meters from the intersection the overtaking maneuver is permitted, regardless of whether the intersection is or is not regulated, provided that the road signalling in that place does not order otherwise. This maneuver is prohibited in the intersections with unregulated traffic and a certain distance from the intersection from where the prohibition of this maneuver begins is not specified. Therefore, answer B cannot be considered correct.

Do not confuse the overtaking maneuver with the stopping maneuver. The stopping maneuver is prohibited in intersections, including those with traffic in roundabout, as well as in the preselection area where continuous markings are applied, and in their absence, at a distance less than 25 meters from the corner of the intersection.

For answer  C

In the action area of the sign “Speed limit“ the overtaking maneuver is not prohibited. The overtaking maneuver can be performed, but provided not to exceed the maximum speed required by the respective speed limit sign.

The correct answer is: A
