In the case of a clavicle fracture that can be identified by the fact that the shoulder is in a hanging position, slightly forward and down, the arm is placed in a sling. The patient must be transported in a sitting position, slightly leaned back. Bending forward is not recommended because this may lead to displacement of the fragments.
The shoulder will NOT be brought into normal position, this procedure will be performed only in medical units and only by specialized personnel.
If you leave the arm free, greater tension will be created in the fracture area, which would lead to more pain and possibly to displacement of the fragments.
