Besides the obligation to stop at the signals of the traffic police officer, the participants in traffic are obliged to stop immediately also at the signals addressed in this regard by the border police officers. The latter may perform, besides the stopping signals, also the following signals: the swinging of the arm in the vertical plane, with the palm of the hand oriented towards the ground or with a means of signalling, which signifies the reduction of speed, as well as the brisk rotation of the arm, which signifies the increase of the speed of movement of the vehicles, including speeding up the crossing of the road by pedestrians. Failure to comply with these signals is sanctioned with a fine provided in the second class of sanctions..
The road legislation does not provide the obligation to stop at the signals addressed by the community police officers. Since the year 2010 the term “community police” no longer exists in the normative acts in force. At this moment the term found in the normative acts in force is “local police”.
The road legislation does not provide that the authorized personnel from the examination service may address stopping signals. Therefore, they cannot address stopping signals to the drivers of vehicles.
